Every month, Laborers of the Harvest distributes literally tons of food to an increasingly hungry community. This requires a huge amount of time to collect, organize, pack, distribute and clean up. The result is thousands of Taft residents receiving food that they desperately need.
The hundreds of hours of volunteer labor come primarily from members of the Shar-On community.

SHAR-ON IS A SMALL NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION WITH A HUGE HEART

We are not a food bank or soup kitchen. We are a "collective", diverse group of people working together to make a difference in the lives of people, including homeless, retired, and business people.

Shar-On is all about people and the community. We have witnessed the positive changes that occur when those two forces come together. Shar-On is a hands-on, front-line organization. We help people wherever they are in their lives, and provide opportunities for people to transform the situations and circumstances they are in. Many of the people we serve are homeless; however, we are seeing a dramatic increase in need from a broader cross-section of the community.

We have several programs and new ones are being implemented all the time. Our core program is Sandwich Social. We provide delicious, hot meals that are lovingly prepared and served each day, and which feed over a thousand people every month.
